Why is one side of my garden soil dark and healthy, while another area is dry and lifeless?

Hi Agnes, it looks like the right side of the garden maybe washing away due to storm water.
The left side of the garden appears to be higher and out the way of the storm water flow. The left-hand side also have leaves that have not washed away as they have on the right-hand side. This results in the leaves creating mulch and ultimately compost on the left. The simplest way to lessen this issue is to lessen the water flow from the higher property. Try placing dump rock in front of the drainage hole in the wall. This will slow the water flow and reduce the erosion.
